Summary by Austin Nash

AIGA Minnesota’s Sustainable Design Committee partnered with Pollinator Friendly Alliance for the Polli-NATION event held September 13 at Lift Bridge Brewhouse. Pollinator Friendly Alliance works to protect and restore pollinators (such as bees, wasps, ants, butterflies, moths, and beetles) to improve the environment and sustain our food supply. Our committee’s role was to recommend sustainable design solutions to help spread awareness of pollinator conservation and connect the organization with designers. We created reusable canvas bags (that can be repurposed as planters) and provided event branding and custom-designed pint glasses.

The Sunday afternoon gathering set out to promote the power of grassroots action to protect and revive pollinators so our community can improve the environment and sustain the food supply. Funds were raised on behalf of Pollinator Friendly Alliance by the St. Croix Valley Foundation. Entertainment was provided by local bands including Chris Koza with Rogue Valley, Jillian Rae, and Firefly. Anchor Fish & Chips Food Truck, The Lone Grazer Creamery, Red Table Meat Co., Great Harvest Bakery, Kowalski’s Market, and L’Etoile Du Nord Waffle Truck provided food for the event.
