Part of AIGA’s INitiative

INitiative is a joint partnership between AIGA and The Creative Group. This national program provides knowledge and tools to help in-house designers make a greater impact at their companies, evolve professionally and connect with a broader network of peers. INitiative delivers inspiration, advice and insights from leaders of the in-house sector via online channels and in-person events.

Past events:

The November 2011 Coffee Break featured Nancy Lyons and Meghan Wilker from Clockwork Active Media Systems and Geek Girls Guide, along with Amber Richard from YMCA Twin Cities. They talked about the collaboration and process that took place in the creation of the new YMCA web site, and how process, communication and collaboration fuel the delivery of a successful digital initiative driven by the expertise of interactive specialists, yet aligning with the brand guidelines managed by the in-house team.

The April 2011 Coffee Break Series traveled to Mayo Clinic in Rochester for the presentation “Managing Health Care’s Strongest Brand: In-House Design at Mayo Clinic.” This event showcased the various in-house groups who use research and design to deliver on Mayo Clinic’s primary value: the needs of the patient come first.

The November 2010 Coffee Break featured an encore presentation from 2010 Design Camp speaker Daniel Dejan, and was held at HGA. Dejan, Sappi’s North American ETC Group print and creative manager, discussed from an in-house perspective how legacy media fits in the marketplace with disruptive technology.

The April 2010 Coffee Break featured Amanda Brinkman, Vice President of Branding and Creative Services for Allianz Life, and took place at Allianz Life in Minneapolis.

In January 2010, our first Coffee Break featured Craig Oskow, senior creative manager of Medtronic Neuromodulation, and Damien Wolf, principal of OrangeSeed Design, and was held at AAA Minneapolis.

Lunch Break Series

The Lunch Break Series is an informal roundtable discussion on various In-House related topics. These discussions are free and open for anyone to attend. They are usually held over the lunch hour at International Market Square.
