Portfolio 1-on-1 2014 Info »

Portfolio 1-on-1 is the premier regional conference for developing design students and recent graduates. Attendees have the unique opportunity to present themselves with their portfolios to experienced creative professionals for intensive reviews, constructive conversations, and valuable connections.

Important registration policies

  • Attendees must register only themselves online prior to the conference. In order to ensure equal and fair access to the conference, we do not offer group sales. Registration is offered on a first-come-first-served basis, and sells out quickly.
  • Registrations are non-transferable. The person who registers must be the person who attends.
  • Registration fees are non-refundable after February 28.
  • If the conference sells out, a wait list will be established and and posted here, with priority given to AIGA members.
  • If you are registered and unable to attend, contact the committee co-chairs.

Responses to Portfolio 1-on-1® 2014

  1. KU graphic design seniors are interested in road tripping to this, and we’re currently trying to get numbers down. I was wondering how much registration will be? Or how much it was last year? Also if you guys have any advice on hotels that are close would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

  2. We’re excited to hear that you are eager for Portfolio 1-on-1! Last year registration was $95 for AIGA Members, $160 if you joined AIGA and registered for Portfolio 1-on-1 and $185 for non-members. This year’s registrations fees have not been nailed down but will be the same or close. We will update the website as soon as possible.

If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to drop me or the chairs a line.

  3. Will the Creative Professionals in attendance be from all over the country, or will they be from the Minneapolis area only?

  4. Hi Audrey,

The professionals will be from the Twin Cities area.

Let us know if you have any other questions!

  5. Do we have internet connections when we present our work to industry professionals? Like if we want to show a website to them.

  6. The venue will have internet but may be unreliable so we advise that students save all web-related work locally on their computers/tablets.

  7. Another great idea for back-up internet planning is to use a wi-fi hotspot from your phone. If you have a friend or two that are attending with you, you might even share the hot-spot as a group. Test it in advance, and keep in mind that service may not be the same in the location of Portfolio 1 on 1.

Like Jenn & Matt said, if you can bring a backup of your web samples that can be showcased on a local drive, it’s a great plan. Alternatively, you could also print out website pages and mouse-over transitions (less ideal but one more backup to have).

  8. Thanks for the suggestions, Lizz. It never hurts to have multiple backups!

  9. What time should the Creative Professionals (portfolio reviewers) be at Mill City Nights on Saturday, March 29th?

  10. Dan,

Morning reviewers are welcome to join us in the morning for breakfast beginning at 8am, as well as join us for lunch following the morning session. If you choose not to join us for breakfast, please arrive by 8:45am to allow for time to pick up your nametag and find your table before we begin.

Afternoon reviewers are welcome to join us for lunch beginning at 11:30. If you choose not to join us for lunch, please arrive by 12:45am to allow for time to pick up your nametag and find your table before we begin the afternoon session. We look forward to seeing you there!
