AIGA’s Design for Good, a national initiative introduced at AIGA’s biennial design conference in Phoenix, is about the intersection of design and social change. It is meant to encourage designers to participate in their communities in meaningful ways—to realize their power to have an impact—as well as to demonstrate the value of design to community leaders and fellow citizens.

But what does that look like? How should AIGA Minnesota implement Design for Good? How does our chapter become a leader in this national effort to do good work?

We’re just getting started and we want to hear from you.

AIGA Minnesota, the fourth largest chapter in the country and a leader within the national organization, wants your input in the process of developing the Design for Good initiative here in Minnesota. We will gather for a brainstorming open forum that will inform the development of the initiative or set of initiatives over the course of next year and beyond.

Please join us.

This is a FREE event open exclusively to AIGA members, but pre-registration is required. To keep the open forum intimate and participatory, space is limited. Please pre-register now. We request that attendees commit to staying and participating for the whole duration of the event. Registration will close at midnight on Tuesday 11/29.

Pizza and refreshments will be provided, and a cash bar will be available.

  1. I just wrote about this on our blog.

I think the trick is figuring out how to move individuals and firms, at different stages of interest and commitment to the idea of design-driven social change, toward what they need (or who they need) next.
