The annual pilgrimage to northern Minnesota since 1980, Design Camp® is our premiere event and the largest regional design conference in the country.

2012 speakers will include Pentagram’s Paula Scher, AIGA Fellow Eric Madsen, Heads of State, Simon Collison, and Chip Kidd. Follow Design Camp on Facebook and give it a big thumbs-up “like” to learn about the latest developments as they roll out.

On Twitter, Kamper Ken and Flannel Fannie, when they’re not debating the nuances of sap collection techniques or moose calls, have the lowdown on everything that’s being readied up in Nisswa. Give them a follow.

About Design Camp

Held annually since 1980 in late September/early October at a lodge in northern Minnesota, Design Camp sets the standard for regional design conferences. Its atypical three-day structure mixes indoor and outdoor activities with both educational and social events.

Featured keynote speakers set the tone for Design Camp, and small-group workshops and creative sessions follow these presentations. Attendees (referred to as “campers”) stay in lakefront cabins and condos then meet in the main lodge for events and meals.

In past years, Design Camp has included speakers such as Erik Spiekermann, Ellen Lupton, Robert Valentine, Milton Glaser, Doyald Young, Lyn Severance, Paul Sahre, Jim Sherraden, Roshi Givechi, Hatch Show Print, DJ Stout, and Dana Arnett.

    We haven’t posted registration information quite yet, but keep an eye out on our Design Camp Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/DesignCampAIGAMN for all of the upcoming announcements.

    As far as pricing goes:

    Student Members of AIGA | $185, or $135 until the early bird rate ends. (Date TBA when registration opens or earlier.)
    Members of AIGA | $275, or $250 until the early bird rate ends. (Date TBA when registration opens or earlier.)
    All Nonmembers | $465 | For the best value, join AIGA online and then register for Design Camp as a member. Joining online is easy and immediate.

    Please also note that only 100 student tickets will be available in 2012.

  3. I called the Grand View Lodge about lodging a few weeks ago and they told me is was done when registering for design camp. The woman I spoke to said that AIGA has a bunch of rooms blocked off for Design Camp that you can only get through registration… so now I’m a little confused that you say we must handle lodging seperately through Grand View Lodge. Help please and thank you!

    I’m sorry for the confusion. Grand View does handle the lodging reservations, but because we are a conference we get special rates and you do need to fill out a separate form to receive those. The form will be available when registering for Design Camp itself. Registration will be ready to open in early August. When we have a specific date we will announce it as soon as possible on the AIGA Minnesota Design Camp Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/DesignCampAIGAMN

    As far as the specific pricing goes for Design Camp® I can tell you that. Claire, I hope this clarifies your question above as well:

    □ $286.25 Single Occupancy, per person, per night
    □ $207.77 Double Occupancy, per person, per night
    □ $168.52 Triple and Quad Occupancy, per person, per night

    The above rates include all meetings, breaks with refreshments, and Lunch and dinner on Friday, Breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday, Breakfast on Sunday.

    I am wondering if I register as an AIGA member under the Wisconsin chapter if I am able to receive the same discount in attending events in Minnesota (such as Design Camp) as if I sign up as a member in the Minnesota chapter.

    Prices are the same no matter what chapter you hail from.

  8. When I click to register, I come up in the category Contributor for $250. Just wondering if this means that student pricing is already sold out? My AIGA account should still be a student member until January.

    So I registered this morning but it would only give me the 250 price and I’m a student. I know it was before all the early bird specials were gone so I’m wondering what I should do? I would like to get the early bird price if that is possible!
    If anyone could help I would appreciate it.

  10. Will there be spaces still available come Thursday? I am waiting on my boss to return to put this on a corporate card. I really don’t want to miss out.

    I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. As we can never guarantee there will be spots for registration, since it is on a first come first served basis, I believe we still have space for you to register.

  12. If there is anyone out there looking for an extra
    lodging partner at Grandview I would love a double,
    triple, or quadruple roommate opportunity.
    I’m not on Facebook so I was told this was a way
    to reach other attendees. If anyone is looking
    for others to house with I can be reached through
